Tuesday, 31 December 2013

2013 has been nothing short of a year of entrances and exits, and I thought it would be apt to end off with a blog post dedicated to this tumultuous year.

Turning 21 this year was a milestone; I mean, it's not every year you turn 21.

I had an awesome party thrown by my parents and sister, and I'm truly thankful for that. It was a night to remember :)

Then I entered Esquire, and...

I met alot of new people, and learnt a lot about people. It was tough work, but the three-month stint at Esquire made me stronger as a person, and again, I'm thankful for that.

This is turning out to be a thanksgiving post, well well well.

During the three-month internship, I also got incepted into AIA and became a part-time blogger. Saying that summer holidays 2013 was a whirlwind is an understatement guys, it's like everything came together at the same time.

Again, learning experiences. The blogging world isn't as glamorous as it seems, and working as a financial consultant is just still an "annoying insurance agent" to most. I've had a generous scoop of superficiality from being a blogger, and got rejected in my face more times than my entire life put together in the last dregs of the year.

And then new people entered my life, and some that I thought would stay forever, left.

What doesn't kill you makes you about ten thousand times stronger though.

Last Friday morning, I logged into studentlink to check my degree audit. I wasn't expecting much, because the entire semester had been a blur between me trying to balance work and study while working and studying. Very trying semester indeed, but it turned out lady luck was smiling on me, and I got the best grades I had in all my three years at NTU.

Sometimes life can be such a joke, isn't it!

I am thankful for the people who stayed with me, accepted and loved me for who I was and who I am now. I will continue to work hard and not disappoint you guys. Saranghaja!

In any case, it's about 10 minutes to the end of this year. Let me wrap up my thankyous with some pictures from Chermaine's 21st  birthday bash at Pan Pacific on Sunday. Wasn't it just yesterday she was at my 21st party? A year has gone by just like that guys, cherish your time and your loved ones. Let's promise to live our lives to the fullest from now on, and not regret!

Foooooood pictures included, cheers y'all. Clink our glasses and cross our fingers for a better and more wonderful 2014!

Dumb party hats, I know. Chermaine just had to do it.

Happy New Year, y'all. Thank you for everything, my followers. <3

SHOUT OUT FROM WITHIN THE MESS OF PAPERS, BOOKS AND NOTES THAT HAVE BEEN MY CAVE FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS

Ayo wassup guys, how's life? It seems as though the last few posts I've been starting with "Sorry guys I've been busy....."

BUT I really have beeeeeen!

No shit man, try having a life when there's school, work and schoolwork. Gee, real lovely to have these two sticking around me 24/7. Wish I could call them my sidekicks, but the sad truth is that they kick me aside all the time, like I'm a football.

So anyway, I am done with three papers and awaiting my fourth and last paper.... in a holiday mood. To be honest this semester has been nothing short of tiring (I say this every semester omg) and I can't wait for it to be over.

Went completely berserk today and splurged on a Zara white shirt, F21 accessories and Guerlain foundation make-up. This is in addition to the numerous packages I've been receiving in the mail over the past two weeks thanks to my online shopping.

Retail therapy works everytime though, I'm high like on drugs now and in absolutely no mood to mug for Tuesday's paper *grins.

Oh well, tomorrow's not too late~

Will be away in KL for a short getaway with colleagues next weekend; first time going KL and not knowing what to expect lol. Counting on it to be a good refresher before I come back and start working my ass off.

Guys, in case you are wondering what sort of work I'm half-drowning in, it's insurance. Yes, I'm a financial planner (and a full-fledged one so save the snide comments please) with AIA and if you do require my services, y'know where to get me winkz.

I see you tying up your shoelaces - no you don't have to run away, I'm not going to hound you to buy insurance from me. I live many lives, and this blogging life of mine will not get entangled with my financial planning job. I am 100% committed to doing all jobs of mine - student, financial planner, blogger - to the best of my abilities and will discern them appropriately.

Now this is starting to sound like a job interview where I am trying to impress the boss and failing badly, so let's move on.

Still awaiting my acceptance letter from Seoul National University; should be anytime now isn't it? Completely spiffed up that I'm going to live in Korea for 5 months, if you guys know me well you'll know this is an absolute dream come true :)

I will continue to blog in Seoul: any requests for posts on culture, dressing, makeup, weather or scenery  may be directed to my email at sohgail@live.com. Also, I've been getting requests to do makeup tutorials on YouTube, okay guys I'm on it. x

Basically these two pictures sum up what my post will be about today!

I attended a Assurance Clinic x Shiseido event at SPH a few weeks back, and that was when the video of my laser session was unveiled to the public for the first time.

Before I go on, let me share an exciting piece of news with you, my dear readers :)

Dr Wong of Assurance Clinic has released a new festive package for you readers who asked me about the price of my sponsored laser session.

You don't wanna miss this! Perfect skin to start the new year, who's up for it?

Moving on, I learnt quite a bit on makeup skills from the Shiseido talk. Y'know how you always think you are doing your makeup well, then the real pro comes along and gives you a few tips and you go like "wtf I was shit the whole time". Yes, story of my life.

Spent half my time looking out for security cameras so I could nick these

Just kidding guys, look at how honest my face is.

Okay, photo spam now!
