Christmas is exactly 25 days away!

I'm sorry for my one month hiatus - was busy with gloomy final essays, projects and assignments. Basically hell month. But it's all bright and sunny now that exams ended two days ago and I'm back to blogging!

I'll be introducing to you guys Medzs' latest Christmas menu today, and I'll start off with the highlight: The Rainbow Log Cake!

If you guys don't already know, Medzs signature rainbow cake was voted the best rainbow cake in town by 8 Days magazine.

I kid you not. Medzs personally delivered their amazing rainbow cake to my home a few months back, and I was sold. You can check out my Instagram post here for more info on the Medzs' Rainbow Cake competition. Though I think it might have ended already. Never mind, you can still follow me for future competitions and updates!

This December, Medzs is back with their Rainbow Log Cake special, just in time for the festive season. The 1.2kg log cake is limited edition, and going for $46.90. What's special about this log cake, you say? Nah, not much, just y'know, it comes with 7 layers of flavoured cream: cream cheese, orange cream, caramel, blueberry, peppermint, chocolate chips and almond.

And crowning the cake are chocolate ganache and a medley of fresh strawberries and other assorted berries. And every layer is perfectly made so that the sponge is light and cottony.

That was quite a mouthful (pun fully intended). This is your chance to finally try their rainbow cake (if you haven't already, shame on you) and also get an extra oomph from the chocolate kick this Christmas!

You can place your order at any of the three Medzs outlets - telephone numbers at the end of this post!

Let's check out the rest of their christmas menu:

*** File photos are what you can expect to get + portioned food photos from the tasting

Oven Roasted Crispy Pork Knuckle with Bratwurst ($68 for 1.5kg)

My thoughts: Skin was very crispy! Meat was mildly tasty but quite dry, but the sausages were rather flavourful! The preserved veggies went well with the meat to complete the overall taste.

Oven Roasted Pork Roulade with Provencal Herbs & Confit Garlic ($68 for 1.2kg)

My thoughts: Tasty but was a bit on the salty side. Skin could be crispier!

Mediterranean Spice Infused Whole Turkey with Foie Gras & Chestnut Stuffing ($118 for 4kg)
--- Christmas Signature! ---

My thoughts: I was really looking forward to this because of the foie gras! But the taste wasn't strong enough and was overpowered by the chestnuts. Turkey must be eaten with the cranberry sauce for best effect.

A series of shots with Pearlyn, my +1 for the night! Comments are a combined contribution by Pearlyn and I :)

Other dishes for the night (that are not in the Christmas menu but because we are all greedy bloggers who just had to order from their usual menus):

Seafood paella: the seafood was quite tasteless although the rice was flavourful.

Truffle Fries: Best dish of the night! So addictive.

Lamb Shank: I only ate the mashed potato and mushrooms because I don't like the taste of lamb. But because of this dish, I found out that lamb refers to the young animal (1 year old and below), while mutton refers to the "old" animal (3 years old and above). Credits to Pearlyn and google.

Duck Confit: Very tender inside with a crispy outside! Yums.

Pork Belly: One of Medzs "must-try". For a good reason.

A very hasty shot with the two PRs for the night. Also, my best group of friends ever. xxx

With Mag!

At last, the highlight of the night:

Stuffed as I was for the night, I couldn't help but enthusiastically tuck into these cakes. So good! The log cake's chocolate was more on the dark side but I liked it. It looks so presentable also, doesn't it. Great for Christmas parties!

The much raved about 7 layers of the rainbow cake could also be tasted. I only wished the chocolate could be more melted for the rainbow cake, that would be so savoury.

Chocolate Pralines: $15.90 for a box of 5. Perfect for Christmas gifts.

There are a lot more dishes and variety in the Medzs Christmas movie, so check them out now by dropping by any Medzs outlet or giving them a call.

Logging all these into my Christmas food diary now, thank you Santa!
